Searching for an activity for you and your family this weekend in Bahrain? Well, you’re in luck, as this coming Saturday on January 12th, a children’s festival at the Bahraini Farmers Market in Budaiya.

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and Urban Planning, the market is going include a “special festival” for children. “The farmers market has been highly successful with a huge participation every week.” The farmers market got off to a packed start on December 8 as thousands of people visited the market which opened its seventh edition. The extremely popular market has been packed every week and is bigger and better than previous years, according to organizers,” he stated.

Set up at the Agriculture Centre in Budaiya Botanical Garden, the five months long market provides local Bahraini farmers with a platform to display and sell their fresh produce to the public. The market also has a section featuring traditional crafts, in addition to an entertainment section for children.

The market was launched with the aim to promote Bahrain’s homegrown agricultural produce and support local farmers, with more than 40 farmers participating. The market is held every Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM, until April 27th. But don’t worry! There’s another permanent farmers market located at Hoorat A’ali.

The Farmers Market at Hoorat A’ali is launched last year in March, by the National Initiative for Agricultural Development with the co-operation of Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and Urban Planning. So far, the market has been a huge success as it attracted over 60,000 visitors in less than 6 months of its inception. H.E Shaikh Hesham bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairman and Managing Director of Bahrain Business Incubator Company has also disclosed that they’ll be expanding the Farmers Market in Hoorat A’ali.
