The new Farmers’ Market has attracted a mind-blowing number of visitors in less than 6 months!

If you recall, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development with the cooperation of Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and Urban Planning has launched a new Farmers’ Market in Hoorat A’ali back in February 2018.

Well, guess what? it has attracted over 60,000 visitors so far! Unbelievable right?

CEO of Bahrain Development Bank Sanjeev Paul commented on the success of the market saying that it has been fulfilling the demand for locally produced fruits and vegetables and that it’s been attracting people in both seasons: Summer and Winter. “The market has been an immense success. Since its opening, the market has attracted a large number of visitors. The number of visitors has reached more than 60,000 until July 24, excluding the 35 visits from different societies, social centers, schools as well as the official visits,” Mr. Paul said.

The Hoorat A’ali Farmers’ Market covers a space of 1,875 square meters and provides a parking space for more than 110 vehicles. Since its inception, more than six major events were held such as the Ramadan Bazaar, Labour Day Festival, The R Bazaar and the Palm Tree Festival.

According to a statement made by the BDB, the market is designed to embrace a wide range of high-quality agricultural products which include fruits, vegetables, dates, roses, and more. “There are 48 stalls including, restaurants, cafes, productive families, farmers and flower nurseries,” the statement mentioned.
