Learn All About Tamkeen’s Career Progression Program.

Launched in 2007, Tamkeen’s Career Progression Programme is considered one of the most important programmes that Tamkeen offers to support the development of human capital and the growth of private sector enterprises. The programme, which is one of the earliest programmes launched by Tamkeen, proved to be highly efficient in the past 6 years, as it provided a dual benefit by up-skilling working Bahrainis on one side, and improving the productivity and efficiency of the enterprises that employ these Bahrainis on another. This unique win-win element of the programme has made it one of the vital elements for the development of the national economy.

This can be seen from the number of Bahrainis and enterprises who have benefited from the programme so far. More than 12,000 Bahraini beneficiaries from 482 companies across different sectors, which include telecommunication, automotive, media, logistics and finance, benefited from the programme. So far, Tamkeen has injected more than BD 23 Million in the form of subsidies into the programme, and it is expected that by 2013, the programme will serve an additional 20,000 Bahrainis.

The programme is implemented by a team of professional experts who first identify skill gaps among Bahrainis employed by the beneficiary companies before these employees are provided with the training that addresses these gaps and, consequently, increases the productivity of both the individuals and the beneficiary enterprises.

As part of the programme, Tamkeen will subsidy training cost, training needs analysis fees, and salary increments. This is separated into three different categories. Track 1 involves a training subsidy of up to BD 1,000, with a subsidised pay increase of BD 50 within the first year for the trainee after the completion of training. For Track 2, Tamkeen provides up to BD 1,500 as subsidies for training, with a subsidised pay increase of BD 75 for the trainee in the first year after completion of training, of which Tamkeen will continue to provide a subsidised BD 25 for the second year. For Track 3, Tamkeen provides up to BD 2,000 as training subsidies, with a subsidised pay increase of BD 100 for the trainee in the first year after completion of the training, of which Tamkeen will continue to subsidies BD 25 in the second year.

All enterprises that can nominate Bahraini employees that are full time and are registered in the General Organisation for Social Insurance can apply for the programme, regardless of size.
