This startup was crowned “Best Startup in Jordan” during Seedstars Amman, can you guess who it is?

Seedstars World, one of the largest seed-stage startup competitions for emerging markets just wrapped up its competition in Jordan and announced its winner for Seedstars Amman – Robu, who was also crowned as the “Best Startup in Jordan” for its innovative and sustainable solution.

The Jordanian startup Robu is a financial decision-making platform for CEOs that need a better way of managing and organizing for their cashflows and performance. Hamed Masri, Co-founder of Robu expressed his content about winning the competition and said “We’re so excited to have been chosen as a finalist for the World Competition. More importantly, we are looking forward to accelerating our learning during the Growth Program, and from the collective experience of the Seedstars community.”

The event was organized by the local Ambassador of Seedstars World and Propeller Inc. with Seedstars World’ local partners The Tank. It was held last Thursday at the Tank-KHBP where 10 selected startups were invited to pitch their startups in front of a local jury panel. The pitching competition attracted more than 90 startups and had around 120 attendees.

One of the juries included Manaf Asfour of Propeller Inc. who was happy to take part in Seedstars Amman. “I’m happy to see new startups tackling bigger markets and building great products and would like to congratulate all of the competing teams and encourage them to maintain the great energy they’ve demonstrated regardless of competition results.”

Seedstars also features Wajeeha Al-Husseini, who’s not only an entrepreneur but a triathlete and current Communications Director at Umniah who delivered an inspirational Keynote highlighting and spoke about the opportunities available for startups in Jordan.

But what about the other startups? Well, second place goes to Instructit, a cloud-based software that allows people to create their own custom white-labeled online academy, while Sadeed came third, which is a tool that automates customer service over social media.

Other startups that pitched during Seedstars Amman included:

  1. Friendture. A platform that allows you to discover experiences and meet like-minded communities while traveling. It also allows you to plan group trips
  2. tarteeb. Custom Tailer Online Platform for Men’s Arabic Thobes
  3. Ranneh. This startup allows you to customize your ringback tones, or record your own ringback tones or event rent your rent your ringback time to advertisers
  4. BEMOTION INC. This platform helps startups and companies immediately enter games
  5. Faylasof Bookstore. This platform allows millions of Arabic books to become available to Arab readers and enable thousands of publishers to market
  6. UnixedIT. Cloud Business Management Platform

Omar Barakat, Regional Associate for MENA at Seedstars commented on the success of this competition in Jordan saying: “Startups in Jordan are receiving tremendous support and very early stage funding from various ecosystem enablers, corporates, and funds which have given entrepreneurs in Jordan the knowledge and resources they need to accelerate their businesses, making them great additions to the Seedstars global family.”

Seedstars World’s next stop is going to be Tripoli, where they’ll be seeking the best startup in Libya.
