The BENEFIT FinTech Award Hackathon hosted by Bahrain FinTech Bay received more than 100 registrants for its event under the theme of ‘Open Banking’. The event is in strategic partnership with the BENEFIT company, and the Global Shapers Manama. Registration will be open until tomorrow for all university students with different skill-sets – primarily software developers, graphic designers, and business people. Participants will get to build solutions and develop a commercial case around them.
The hackathon will run from February 21st till February 27th. This year’s hackathon focuses on Open Banking, bridging the gap between fintech enthusiasts and corporates, providing the Bahrain financial services ecosystem with cutting-edge insights to modern-day innovations. The Open Banking challenges will be centered on businesses, individuals, and IoT.
The first day of the Hackathon will start with an in-depth networking session allowing the participants to pitch their ideas, form a team and come up with a strategic plan. The second day will be focused on executing the idea, building the process and using all the resources and support provided.
The hackathon will host various targeted workshops bringing in local mentors to coach participants in terms of design thinking, ideation, presentation skills, and more. Additionally, mentors part of the Global Shapers Manama network were present. The Manama Hub aims to contribute holistically to the ongoing social and economic development of Bahrain through cross-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder means, and by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and youth engagement.
The Final Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 27th at the Four Seasons Hotel in conjunction with Bahrain FinTech Bay’s Open Banking Conference. Participants will pitch their final presentations at the OpenX: The API Economy conference to a panel of judges who are experts in their fields, in the financial services industry, with an audience of 200+ people from several sectors and industries.
The BENEFIT FinTech Award hackathon is a themed event that focuses on building a working prototype that could form the basis of a credible business. It is designed for participants to connect, discover, and learn how to go through an entrepreneur’s journey in a short time. The platforms will allow them to connect with like-minded individuals driven to build something new and be part of a rich and diverse pool of people.
