Seedstars is back to Amman scouting for the best startup in Jordan

Seedstars World, the largest startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes is coming to Jordan for the sixth time. With the support of the local host Umniah, Seedstars will be holding a dynamic training on July 6th at 9h and pitch event on July 7th.

The companies invited to the training session and to privately pitch at the Seedstars Amman event need to be less than two years old, have raised less than USD 500k in funding and built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction. The Seedstars team is searching for one additional criterion: the startup’s regional and global scalability.

After careful screening, the Seedstars team will shortlist around ten of the best seed-stage startups in Jordan to pitch on July 7th, 2019 for the opportunity to compete at the Seedstars Summit, that annually takes place in Switzerland.

“We are very excited to come back to Amman for the 6th time! The stakes are higher than ever as we’ve been in this ecosystem for more than six years now and know there are companies in Jordan developing high-quality products. We are looking for the best and will take them with us to Switzerland in 2019!”, says Francesca Bombassei, Venture Capital analyst for the MENA region at Seedstars.

In order to provide local entrepreneurs with this opportunity and aiming to deliver the best possible event, Seedstars has been closely working with Manaf Asfour, who has been representing the initiative throughout the year.

When it comes to local support, Umniah is Platinum partners of the event. “We are delighted to host Seedstars competition for the second consecutive year at Umniah’s business incubator, The Tank, which catches opportunities and creates innovative entrepreneurs by supporting their ideas and applying them on the ground to reach global markets,” said Zaid Ibrahim, Director of Marketing at Umniah.

Ibrahim also clarified that for the past few years, The Tank by Umniah has achieved outstanding milestones in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem in the Jordan by providing services to early-stage startups such as financial and legal support, business and technical guidance, mentorship and connect them with international investors by allowing them to participate in international conferences.
