Malaeb launches a Super League for Super Footballers

Bahrain’s very first community for sports players and enthusiasts, Malaeb, is announcing the launch of its one-of-a-kind football Super League dedicated to its members and new joiners alike, and introduces a new era of football during the post-pandemic.

In a nutshell, the Super League will have teams playing on a regular basis to get higher rankings amongst their Bahraini peers, and based on each team’s match result, they will either progress or revert in their overall points.

Since Malaeb is all about football, you’d surely expect a significant level of professionalism in the way they run their football initiatives; and the Super League is no exception to that. Registered teams will be pleased to know that every single one of the games will be pre-scheduled and refereed to guarantee that all is fair and square. We’d totally join if we had good eye-foot coordination

So, the way it works is basically as follows: each registered team will go into a global leaderboard where their points will be allocated depending on the results of their matches. At the end of each month, a draw will ensue to arbitrarily position teams against each other for the season.

Once the draw takes place and schedules are sent out to the team captains, the season will officially kickstart. If you’re wondering about the point system on which teams will be ranked, it’s the following:

  • Win = +5 points (vs higher ranking team)
  • Win = +3 points (vs lower ranking team)
  • Lose = -5 points (vs lower ranking team)
  • Lose = -3 points (vs higher ranking team)
  • Draw = 1 point (higher or lower)

If you have 11 friends who are as passionate about football as you, then you better grab your jerseys and get ready to bend it like Beckham with the Super League. Malaeb allows any team with 12 players to enter the Super League, as long as their players are not registered under another team, and the only other condition is that all team members must be 16 years of age and older in order to participate.

If you thought the joy of playing football and conquering other teams is the only thing you’ll be getting out of the Super League, think again! The perks are quite inviting, and they include:

  • Winning prizes up to 1,500 BD for the top 10 teams on the Global Leaderboard at the end of each month.
  • Being featured on a Global Leaderboard where a team’s rank reflects their team level in comparison to other teams.
  • Getting rid of the hassle of finding teams to play against on a weekly basis. Because texting Hamood and Azooz half an hour before the match doesn’t always work out too well, right?
  • Scheduled and refereed matches to ensure fairness.

Yasser Hadi, Founder and CEO of Malaeb, commented on the Super League initiative: “Community building has been our main focus here at Malaeb App, the Super League is our latest venture to put it into focus. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for local athletes to play, compete and develop consistently through the League. Given that the concept is the first of its kind, we’re super excited to see how the Bahraini football community reacts to the Super League and what they accomplish. We will then be looking to expand this league into the rest of the GCC.”

As for Abdulrahman Alkhawaja, Project Manager at Malaeb, he said: “The Super League addresses the football community’s urge to compete, with a twist! Imagine all teams in Bahrain under one umbrella, a leaderboard that gives every team in Bahrain a rank, more importantly, a presence in the local community, such value added to this beautiful game takes it to the next level. Of course we do provide prizes up to BHD1,500 per month, referees, schedules sent to team captains beforehand, yet what makes the Super League special is its large community, all playing under one leaderboard with the same purpose… ranking higher!”

It’s noteworthy to mention that talabat is the Platinum Sponsor for this event, and Motor City is the Gold Sponsor. Malaeb expressed their excitement and gratitude to all their sponsors.

If you’re interested in signing up for the Super League, the rest of the rules are on the registration page, where your team captain can register your whole team for the Super League.
