Flat6Labs Bahrain graduates eight startups in its first cycle

Flat6Labs Bahrain hosted its first Demo Day at The Bahrain Cultural Hall where eight startups showcased their businesses in front of an audience consisting of VIPs, investors and other prominent officials.

Flat6Labs Bahrain is one of the key startup accelerator programs in the MENA region that was launched in March 2018 and is poised to support and invest in more than 40 local and international startups and entrepreneurs over the next three years.

The first cycle received over 150 applications from more than 30 countries which was then narrowed down to a final selection of eight Startups that consisted of teams both locally and internationally, with businesses offering products and services from a wide range of industries such as Food & Beverage, HealthTech, Lifestyle, ICT, Human Resources & Development, Gaming, and Software Communication.

Throughout the four-month intensive developmental program, they were given access to world-class trainers, mentors, and coaches as well as a host of perks, office space, legal support and company registration in the Kingdom of Bahrain. 

Chief Executive of Tamkeen Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi said, “We are delighted to see this initiative reaps the fruit of the first stages of its work. This is a great opportunity to invest in the development of startups, and supporting the launch of Flat6Labs Bahrain comes as part of Tamkeen’s continuous efforts towards fostering sustainable economic growth in the private sector as well as meet the requirements of developing a promising entrepreneurship environment within the Kingdom of Bahrain.”

“Along with our partners at Tamkeen, we were able to filter out eight of the first set of potential startup enterprises, who have presented their innovative range of products and services today. We’re extremely thrilled with our first cycle and look forward to having more exciting Startups in our second cycle” he added.

Flat6Labs is a regional startup accelerator program and seed investment company that fosters and invests in bright and passionate entrepreneurs with cutting-edge ideas. It provides seed funding, strategic mentorship, a creative workspace along with a multitude of perks and entrepreneurship-focused business training. 

In addition, it directly supports startups through an expansive network of partner entities, mentors and investors. 

The program accepts startups from a variety of sectors including financial services and payments, education, ICT, healthcare, tourism, and more. Over the next three years, Flat6Labs Bahrain is braced to support and invest in over 40 local and international startups, with two cycles of the program per year. The second cycle will commence in November and the deadline for applications is October 10th.
