Admissions are open at the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF)

The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) has announced that admissions for its internationally recognised academic programmes are now open.

Through its partnerships with leading universities in the UK, BIBF offers a range of undergraduate programmes aimed at students considering careers in banking, finance, management and related fields.  Head of BIBF’s Academic Centre, Dr Keith Sharp explained: “All undergraduate degrees at BIBF lead to qualifications made by highly ranked British universities.  In this way, students can obtain an internationally-recognised British degree whilst studying locally in Bahrain, and for a fraction of the cost of re-locating to the UK.” All undergraduate programmes offered at BIBF are fully recognised by the Higher Education Council of Bahrain.

The Bangor University programmes offered at BIBF allow students to specialise in one of three areas: Banking and Finance, Accounting and Finance and Islamic Finance.  The programmes aim to combine high level theoretical understanding with the practical skills required for a successful career in the modern business world.  Dr Sharp remarked: “All of our Bangor students are exposed to practical, hands-on training through the BIBF ‘dealing room’.  This is the only one of its kind in the Middle East and confronts students with real-life economic scenarios to which they must react.  It is an excellent preparation for the real world of business and finance.”

BIBF also offers the prestigious University of London BSc in Economics and Management, with academic direction by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), one of the constituent Colleges of the University.   This means that academics from LSE design the syllabus and learning materials and are responsible for setting and marking all examinations.  LSE has a global reputation as one of the foremost specialist social science universities in the world.

Students who have not completed either A’ Levels or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma can gain admission to these degree programmes through BIBF’s International Foundation Programme (IFP).  Recognised in the UK by the National Recognition Information Centre (UK NARIC) as equivalent to A’ Levels and the IB Diploma, students who complete the BIBF IFP may either progress to one of the UK undergraduate programmes offered at BIBF or apply for entry to any UK university.

Admissions for the 2016-17 academic year are ongoing and students are encouraged to visit the BIBF campus in Juffair to learn more about the courses and facilities or visit the website www.bibf.com for more details about the programmes.

BIBF Deputy Director, Dr Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh, said: “BIBF is pleased to offer exceptional academic programmes in Bahrain in collaboration with world class universities. Our mission is to develop world-class human capital for the banking, finance and related sectors in Bahrain and one of the ways in which we achieve this is through our academic partnerships with first-class universities such as Bangor University and the University of London.”
