The title sounds logical doesn’t it? Once you’ve read and reflected on it, that is, because at first glance some might actually disagree with how it portrays a leader. Leaders lead! They tell people what to do! Making everyone smarter is someone else’s business. Are all stereotypical of the qualities of a leader.
EO Bahrain’s members reject the linear and stereotypical view of leader and know that view couldn’t be farther from the truth. Leaders, to EO Bahrain members, are those people who multiply the effectiveness of everyone around them. Leaders, are those people whom you leave their presence thinking that you’ve actually become smarter!
Wanting to explore this subject more in depth, EO Bahrain felt that the Wall Street Journal bestseller “Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter” addresses these issues in detail. Therefore, they invited Hazel Jackson who purchased the rights and is the Master Agent for the Multipliers training materials and IP in the Middle East, Asia and Africa. She is also a Practice Leader for how the Multipliers Effect impacts Entrepreneurs. Hazel herself is an accomplished entrepreneur and an active member of EO Dubai.
The event was a good success achieving a respectable overall score of 93% from the attendees. Gulf Broadcast, owned by EO Bahrain’s current president Mahmood Al-Yousif, produced a short video to summarise the event, interview Hazel and get some reactions from those attending.
Talking to Mahmood for his reaction for startupBahrain, he said: “Multipliers has certainly challenged some of my ideas of management and forced me to shift my perception. I can see some positive results of this change; I’m more aware of the way I ask for things and hold my tongue from giving instructions. That last part is very difficult and I’m still dealing with it!”
