On Tuesday, October 17, Bahrain will be hosting the 4th edition of the eCommerce Forum and Exhibition 2017, under the patronage of Zayed R. Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism. This year the theme would be “eCommerce … a Bahraini Platform … For a Global Market.” The Labor Fund Tamkeen and the Bahrain Technology Companies Society organized it along with the silver sponsor, the Gulf Petrochemical Company.
The primary goal of the forum is to encourage local businesses on the path through their electronic transformation. This year, the event would discuss five main topics among which are the cloud computing solutions, the importance of eLitigation and eArbitration, and promoting e-commerce. Several local companies would present their success stories of transformation. In addition to that, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce would discuss the virtual registration ”SIJILI,” developed in-house.
According to Ubaydli Al-Ubaydli, the President of the Bahrain Technology Companies Society, Bahrain needed to adapt quickly to the dynamic changes within the ICT industry to lead the businesses in the right direction towards building a knowledge economy. He also highlighted the central role and contributions of the private sector on the road to the non-oil economy.
The CEO of Tamkeen, Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, added that implementation of e-commerce would be the next step in satisfying the technical and developmental needs of the Bahraini trade market. In Janahi’s view, it would result in increased efficiency and higher contributions to the national economy.
Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, the Chairman of the silver sponsor of the event, the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, expressed his gratitude to Tamkeen and BTECH for their continuous efforts to assist medium and small businesses in Bahrain.
