Twofour54, the Abu Dhabi media and entertainment hub has made it to the 10th place on the Forbes Middle East’s list of the 50 Most Active Investors. During the recent Forbes Middle East Innovators event in Dubai, the center has also pronounced the second highest accelerator.
Currently, twofour54 has 12 ongoing direct investments in diverse businesses ranging from e-commerce and e-learning to artificial intelligence and gaming. In addition to that, the hub is also investing directly in startups via the digital media accelerator Flat6Labs, which is active in twofour54 for three years now.
Unnyhog, the cross-platform gaming startup, is also among the young companies that received funding from twofour54. Incubated during the first Fla6labs‘ cycle in 2015, it brings technological innovations to gaming design to create a cross-platform multiplayer online game.
Pavel Ignatov, the founder, and CEO of Unnyhog commented he was proud to be a part of the growing twofour54 community. His company managed to attract the attention of one of the world’s top digital accelerators, YCombinator. In addition to investing capital in the companies it has interest in, YCombinator also invites them to the Silicon Valley to polish their skills and competencies.
Narrativa, one of the first artificial intelligence startup to receive funding in the UAE, is also part of twofour54. It uses AI to translate data into a user-friendly content. The Luxury Closet, PopArabia, T-Break Media, Silkroad Images are among the other investments twofour54 made in rising businesses.
According to Maryam AlMheiri, the CEO of the Media Zone Authority and twofour54, the region is full of young, bright minds that needed little support to flourish and realize their full potential. Twofour54 does not only provide them with funding. It also helps them write their business plans and guides them throughout the whole process of establishing a successful business.
