Tamkeen boosts Bahraini entrepreneurs through their latest intensive summer training session held in the U.S

The latest take on Tamkeen’s unlocking Bahraini entrepreneurial potential through their Global Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program. Held in partnership with the American Global Consulting and Muhlenberg College, a various mix of 20 entrepreneurs and startups were selected of which half were women entrepreneurs.

We took off to Muhlenberg campus in Allentown, Pennsylvania for an intensive summer training session in mid-June 2019.

The two-week intensive program was a hands-on experience focused on building entrepreneurial skills to enhance Bahrain’s existing entrepreneurs’ eco-system, bridging ideas and experiences gained during the program.

The program kicked off with a welcome at Hoffman House where Nancy Miller gave us insight into our personality types, based on our MBTI test which is interconnected to building and connecting with our teams. While Laura and Joe Edelman took us into a highly intensive creative journey on a fun way to photograph “an Egg” – a teamwork process to think outside the box.

Throughout the two weeks, we visited innovative incubators, co-working spaces and businesses to experience the American entrepreneurial ecosystem. Some of the sites we visited are LV Tech Entrepreneur Meet up at Fab Lab, Lehigh Valley Economic and Development Corp, Dream IT Ventures, Indie Hall and Arch Tech (co-working space + incubators), Velocity Tech, Bridgeworks, Ben Franklin incubators, Pennsylvania Career Link and more.

We gained classroom knowledge in Managing the creative process, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship, how high performers think and work; insights into the business of sports, small business lenders, women in business, amongst other topics.

However, It wasn’t just “all work and no play”. We actually went on exploring the Hershey chocolate factory, enjoyed a baseball game at Coca Cola Park in Leigh high valley, in addition to an Amish community site, and we also witnessed firsthand experience on seeing how movie monsters are created at Smooth-On – a silicon type mold making factory. While Muhlenberg Summer Musical Theatre 39th season “Bring-it-On” wrapped it all.

All in all, it was an immersive experience during this two-week intensive program. It wouldn’t have been possible without Tamkeen and the support from American Global Consultancy Bahrain and Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA – USA.

Strong professional Friendship: We started the two weeks journey as strangers and came back with a network of strong professional friendship.
