Zain launches eSIM for its customers

Zain Bahrain, a leading telecoms operator in the Kingdom, has launched the new electronic SIM (eSIM) to all Zain Bahrain customers.

The new electronic SIM (eSIM) service will allow Zain Bahrain customers to have multiple numbers using the same handset through the phone’s “Settings” function only, without inserting or replacing a physical SIM card. The eSIM will also enable Zain customers to swap between one phone number for business use and another for personal calls and will also enable customers to select an international roaming network while travelling out of the Kingdom. The new eSIM service is currently compatible with Apple’s latest iPhones, the iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR running the 12.1 IOS and above. The eSIM will also be compatible with different handsets in the near future.

“The new eSIM launch comes in line with Zain Bahrain efforts to become the leading telecom operator in the Kingdom, bringing the most advanced technologies and services to Zain customers. The eSIM  technology brings Zain customers a number of advantages, it enables customers to switch numbers on the go and could lower the risk of device theft”, commented Mr. Mohammed Al Alawi, Acting Director, consumer marketing.

Mr. Mohammed Al Alawi, Acting Director, consumer marketing added, “The wireless world is changing quickly. From devices to applications, network infrastructure to how connectivity is managed. The eSIM technology is a key factor in the growth of Internet of things (IoT).  IoT is the future, and the e-SIM is the entity which would drive for the success of IoT”.

The new eSIM is available for post-paid and pre-paid customers with the latest Apple iPhones – the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.  Zain customers can now visit any of Zain Bahrain branches to activate the new service.
