Zain Bahrain discusses the importance of Gender Diversity in the workplace during the ePay Summit

Zain Bahrain, a leading telecoms operator in the Kingdom, participated as a diversity sponsor in Bahrain’s ePAY summit on the 11th and 12th  March at the Ritz Carlton. The ePay Summit was held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain and in partnership with Bahrain Bourse, Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), and Tamkeen.

Zain Bahrain sponsored a panel discussion in ePAY Summit, on “Diversity in the Workplace”. The panel started with a keynote by Fatima Haider, Zain Bahrain’s Organizational Development Specialist, and featured Abdulla Salmeen, Zain Bahrain’s Acting Director of Customer Care. The panel discussed the importance of diversity and inclusion in improving customer experience and creating a sustainable competitive advantage, the magnitude of potential loss resulting from a non-diverse workforce, why diversity is critical for a business to understand and how government regulations can catalyze and build momentum for inclusiveness.

In addition, Zain Bahrain had a stand during the two days of the event to showcase their broadband connectivity and their business solutions with the supervision of Zain Bahrain’s corporate team.

Fatima Haider, Zain Bahrain’s Organizational Development Specialist commented during the panel keynote, “Diversity in the workplace promotes acceptance, respect, and teamwork despite differences in race, age, gender, native language, political beliefs, religion or communication styles amongst employees. There are many benefits to having a more diverse workplace in which Zain Bahrain believes in and currently is trying to achieve.”

She continued, “Zain Bahrain is more conscious when it comes to recruiting screening, to maintain gender equality and to ensure that the recruitment process promotes diversity and remains unbiased. In addition, Zain Bahrain has developed a leadership opportunity for women to build a strong foundation for gender equality in the workplace, thus creating an environment where women can thrive in leadership roles. At Zain we believe in employee empowerment, creating equal opportunities and treatments, encouraging a sense of belonging in a safe and open environment, as well as encouraging Zain employees to maintain an open dialogue.”

Abdulla Salmeen, Zain Bahrain Acting Director of Customer Care, added “Diversity in the workplace has been an important topic within many organizations and can bring tremendous benefits to the workplace and to customers. Zain Bahrain emphasizes that by creating a customer experience that addresses a specific customer group’s needs and wants, you can differentiate yourself from your competition and grow your business with new, incremental customers. Just learn how to create positive experiences for those groups of customers by letting a specific customer segment know that you understand and are responding to its needs. Therefore, you will have a great opportunity to shine and develop a significant competitive edge.”
