Uber Eats is launching in two Middle Eastern cities, read on to find out where

Uber Eats, Uber’s food delivery platform is soon going to be launched in Riyadh and Cairo according to a statement announced by the company, although they haven’t specified an exact date of the launch yet.

Here’s how the app works: The company Uber partners up with different restaurants so they can list them and their menus on the platform. Users can log into this platform using their Uber credentials either through the website of the mobile app. After logging in, users can browse through the different restaurants listed and choose whatever they like to order and can pay either through their credit card that’s associated with their Uber account or cash when the food gets delivered.

Uber Eats is available in more than 200 cities worldwide including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. According to the company, Uber Eats has been quite successful in the UAE as the number of orders grew by 169% in the second half of 2017.

Nic Robertson, General Manager, Uber Eats Middle East and Africa, commented on the expansion saying: “We know that people in Saudi Arabia and Egypt have been calling out for technology to get the food they love delivered for all occasions in any locations for some time now. We’re thrilled to be answering this demand by partnering with national and local restaurants to bring the convenience of the Uber Eats app to more people in the region.”

Furthermore, Uber Eats will launch the localized version of its app in Saudi Arabia and Egypt to fit the market of the Arabic speaking consumers. Nic Robertson explains that Uber’s recipe for success is “built on catering to the local taste of the cities” they operate in, this is why they’re creating a localized version of the app that caters to the needs of the Arabic speaking population.
