UAE has saved more than $2bn in three years! Here’s how

According to a study conducted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), UAE’s Smart Government applications has generated savings of $2.17 billion within 3 years.

The study done addressed the impact of the UAE Smart Government on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) from 2015 through 2017. During that time, e-services have contributed towards cutting 377,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions, mainly due to the reduced physicals visits to complete transactions at state departments, Emirates news agency WAM reports.

Furthermore, the study has indicated that the e-services significantly contributed to automating jobs, which led to saving more than 5,800 posts across various federal departments in three years only.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of TRA, commented on the impressive change saying: “The significant results achieved through e-service applications have proved the government right on its bet on digital transformation across government departments.”
