This female Bahraini student excels at the World Skills Abu Dhabi competition

Bahraini student Maliha Moudhafar from the Bahrain Polytechnic College of Technology has won the Best of Nation medal in the World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017 competition. She received a coveted medal and a certificate of excellence during the official closing ceremony as Maliha impressed the jury with her 660 points in webpage-making skills and outperformed 1,300 competitors from 59 countries in 51 skills in total. The rest of the Bahraini participants got more than 600 points in various other skills.

Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, the Education Minister, congratulated the young Bahraini minds for their excellent results at the 44th edition of the World Skills competition. He pointed out their performance reflected the active government efforts to promote education and tech among teenagers to ensure their prosperous future. “Bahrain performed honorably in its first participation despite competing with major industrial powers like China, Russia, South Korea, Japan and France, which is in itself a source of pride”, he said. 

Furthermore, the assistant undersecretary for General and Technical Education, Latifa Al-Bounoudha expressed her gratitude to all the professionals in education – teachers, ministry specialists, high school institutions for making Bahraini students competitive at international level. She also thanked the local businesses which collaborated closely with the educational institutions to let students practice their skills in a real working environment such as webpage-making, medical care, motor technology, welding, electrical wiring, and more.
