Technology and Business Society Hosts Cybersecurity Readiness Workshop in Collaboration with CTM360®

The Technology and Business Society (TBS) had hosted a Cybersecurity readiness workshop in collaboration with local Cybersecurity firm CTM360® at Arcapita Building, Bahrain Bay. The workshop brought together C-Level executives, board members, and IT professionals from various sectors under one roof to unravel the common challenges faced and collaborate better on cybersecurity initiatives within the country. Given the current geopolitical state, cybersecurity is highly necessary for businesses to run effectively.

“I think we can all agree that collaboration is key when it comes to fighting back against cyber attacks. We need to have various focus groups for security within each sector to strengthen our understanding and security posture”- Mishal Al-Hellow, Chairman of the Technology Business Society.

The workshop was presented by Mirza Asrar Baig, CEO & Founder of CTM360®, who had elaborated on the current state of cybersecurity regionally and globally. The session also highlighted the need for a balance between cybersecurity and operational business as nowadays the industry is observed to be more reactive than proactive when it comes to cyber threats. Furthermore, the discussion included the main types of disruptive attacks, proactive response strategies vs. reactive strategies, Global cyber warfare, cybersecurity best practices, and practice drills.

Al-Hellow had also stated that a law proposal has already been submitted by the Members of Parliament that aims to establish a national cybersecurity body. The authorizing body is meant to be concerned with all planning, organizing, implementation, and guidance all cybersecurity-related issues in the Kingdom of Bahrain; indicating that such a law would create an integrated national strategy for cybersecurity that serves the development sectors in all fields.

“We need to start addressing threats in an early stage of an attack rather than during a compromised stage which is already too late.” – Mirza Asrar Baig, CEO & Founder CTM360®.

Organizations were encouraged to share their stories and experiences with cyberattacks in a coordinated manner so that the whole community may benefit and learn from each other and take the appropriate proactive measures against such attacks.
