Tamkeen announces date of 2nd Gulf Edition of “Pitch@Palace” in Bahrain

Tamkeen has announced the date of the second Gulf edition for “Pitch@Palace” competition, during the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) Bahrain 2019. Held under the patronage of His Royal Highness (HRH), Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, Pitch@Palace GCC 2.0 will be held in the Kingdom for the first time in November 2019.

Pitch@Palace was first launched in 2014 by the Duke of York to build a network of entrepreneurs and enhance their competitiveness across the world.

The second Gulf edition will be attended by various participants from across the GCC, including the local qualifiers from the recent Bahraini edition, in which six entrepreneurs won the competition including the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The competition, held in partnership with the Labour Fund “Tamkeen”, aims to enhance the entrepreneurial environment by providing a platform of support and consultancy, networking with entrepreneurs from around the world, and providing an entrepreneurial experience via regional and international opportunities and exposure to global markets.

The announcement made by Dr. Janahi during the GEC 2019 event represents a promising opportunity to celebrate the Kingdom’s achievements in supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In a statement about the importance of the “Pitch@Palace” competition, Dr. Janahi explained: “One of the most important results of such participation is the value-added gained experience. One the most important element of entrepreneurship success is the knowledge gained from practice and exposure, exploration of the possible opportunities available in the market and being able to take part in the creation of innovative projects that enhance the competitiveness of entrepreneurial performance in local and international markets alike.”

Dr. Janahi also added that participants receive a wide network of support and communication throughout the competition, which allows them to establish expansive and collaborative partnerships while also benefitting from crucial feedback in implementing and improving the performance of products and services’ for startups in the Kingdom.

The winners of the Gulf edition of “Pitch@Palace” are expected to participate in the global edition which will be held at the end of this year at St. James Palace in London, UK. At this stage, participants will present their projects to a selection of judges comprised of entrepreneurs, investors, international experts and key decision-makers.

The participation of Bahrain in the global edition held in December of 2018 included the qualification of the “AlRawi Books” application. Co- Founders Hala Sulaiman, Amira Al-Qubaiti and Mohamed Ebrahim got qualified during Pitch@Palace Bahrain and GCC, while won ‘People’s Choice Award’ during the international tour of the competition.

Since the launch of the competition, more than 59 countries have participated in the program, including around 800 entrepreneurs from around the world.
