Export Bahrain, a leading initiative of the Kingdom’s national SME Development Board, announced a new milestone by facilitating over USD 100 million in export value through small and medium-sized enterprises as of June 2021 since inception.
The official export platform of the Kingdom has strategically helped SMEs based in Bahrain to export more than 51 different product and service categories across ten sectors. Since its inception in November 2018, Export Bahrain has supported products and services that are made in Bahrain reaching more than 55 markets across the GCC, Asia, Africa, Europe, Australia, United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Despite the onset of COVID-19, the export value facilitated through Export Bahrain in the first half of 2021 has already surpassed the total export value of 2020 due to the increased awareness and shift in mindset of local businesses. There has been a 15% rise in the number of new exporters in the market leading to a 34% increase in new markets tapped into globally through Export Bahrain.
Due to its strategic location and connectivity, Bahrain has historically been an important trading hub as these factors continue to contribute to the Kingdom’s success today. Export Bahrain always strives and focuses on developing strategic solutions and partnerships through which local businesses would benefit from and to encourage and support a higher number of exports to the global markets.
Reaching USD 100 million milestone in export value is a testament that small and medium-sized enterprises that are based in Bahrain are determined to export their products and services to markets all over the world.
