RiseUp LLC announced its special edition conference RiseUp From Home (RFH), which will convene from 13-15 August 2020 under the theme “Got Grit?”.
RiseUp From Home (RFH): Got Grit? is a digital event organized by RiseUp to reconnect the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem and help entrepreneurs become more resilient, as the COVID-19 pandemic has challenged businesses everywhere. Attendees of RFH will be exposed to real case studies on how global companies at different levels survived the last six months.
Speakers announced so far include local and regional entrepreneurs such as Rana El Kaliouby, Co-Founder and CEO at Affectiva, Vezeeta’s CEO Amir Barsoum and Omar Gabr, Instabug’s CEO; as well as regional and global VCs and investors such as 500 Startups’ Hasan Haidar and Global Ventures’ Noor Sweid; and global experts and professionals such as Andreesen Horrowitz’s Ben Horrowitz and LinkedIn’s Allen Blue.
“RFH is digitizing activities that were majorly conducted offline, including networking, exposure, and exhibiting, in order to prepare startups regionally for unforeseen external shocks in the future,” Founder of RiseUp Abdelhameed Sharara said. “The aim is to help startups and entrepreneurs mitigate the negative economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by enabling stakeholders to reconnect, obtain resources, become more resilient and learn how to become more gritty.”
The online event will be hosted on home-grown event management platform Eventtus and will include workshops, keynote speeches, fireside chats, networking rooms, satellite activities and entertainment experiences, a virtual startup exhibition, consultation matchmaking and a launchpad.
Over 40% of the content will be held in Arabic, as RiseUp encourages the participation of aspiring entrepreneurs all over Egypt and strives to support an inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. The content tracks will focus on the following pillars:
Smart Capital Track:
This track will host an array of business trailblazers to talk about the next age of entrepreneurship and share their stories of resilience. Topics will include: funding, investment, new trends in the region, the future of startups in MENA, new investment opportunities, what investors to look for, and how to become investment-ready.
Creative Culture Track:
Creativity is at the heart of resilience; it paves the way for humans to create new things and inspire one another. From branding and design to storytelling and photography, RFH will host creative minds to discover what’s new across creative industries, discuss strategies for resilience in the gig economy, and address how to blend creative functions into a startup and utilizing media to fuel growth.
Tech 4 Humans Track:
Thanks to technology, everyone is a few clicks away from everything around them. Navigating through the unprecedented would have been a lot more difficult with no tech products designed to make our lives easier. We will shed light on the role of technology in facilitating our day-to-day tasks, and how entrepreneurs are utilizing technology for a better, more resilient tomorrow.
Emerging Tech Track:
Tech-enabled is the new normal, it is the foundation of a startup’s success. As technological advancements accelerate year after year, they continue to render old business models obsolete. RFH will be highlighting all things new and exciting in the tech world, focusing on how successful startups make use of state-of-the-art emerging technologies to build businesses and solutions that last.
It is all about people in the end! Keeping personnel onboard and engaged is crucial. People are any company’s greatest asset and are the force that ultimately pushes an organization forward. RFH will take a look at how to maintain morale amid crises, build an organizational culture that keeps people motivated, fosters resilience and empowerment, and creates a workplace where people love to work.
