New opportunity for EdTech startup Ostaz to expedite global expansion roadmap

Inspired Education Group, a private school provider with a global presence, has announced that it acquired Ostaz, formerly known as Synkers. Ostaz is a Lebanese online tutoring platform that has been around since 2017.

Co-Founded by Audrey Nakad and Zeina Sultan, Ostaz focuses on connecting students with qualified private tutors. The goal of the platform is to help students achieve their learning objectives while preparing them for their future academic endeavors. Inspired Education Group’s global presence is expected to further boost Ostaz’s international expansion roadmap.

As of April 2021, Ostaz has more than 43,000 onboard on its platform. The startup claims that overall, it has served more than 65,000 hours of tutoring for an array of curricula including British (GCSEs, A levels), French, International Baccalaureate, American, Saudi, Egyptian and Lebanese. Additionally, it also covers lessons on languages, prep tests, as well as soft skills.

“We are excited that Inspired is now our partner and will invest in the future of Ostaz,” said Nakad.

“We believe that our partnership will enable Ostaz to grow its presence across the globe, bringing high-quality and personalized online and offline private tutoring to students from New York to Riyadh. If anything, the Covid-19 pandemic has catalyzed the need for services like Ostaz and we see a burgeoning market and great demand for our offer.”

It is worth mentioning that the acquisition of Ostaz is not the first of its initiatives for Inspired. The group has previously also launched various other online-focused initiatives including the launch of King’s College Online.
