NBB launches summer internship program, ‘EVOLVE’

The National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) has launched its summer internship program, Evolve, to offer high school and university students with the opportunity to explore a potential career in the banking and finance industry. The program was developed to cater for students from both public and private educational institutions.

Designed as a community investment initiative to support young Bahrainis with a potential future in the field, Evolve is aimed at students between the ages of 15 to 24 years, with a high academic performance record and an interest in gaining professional skills and practical experience in banking and finance. The program will operate throughout the summer holidays, offering students real insight into industry knowledge through simulated trainings and an overview of the functional operations taking place within the bank in addition to role specific on job training.

With the aim of engaging with developing youth across the Kingdom, NBB has joined hands with several schools, such as Ibn Khuldoon National School, the Bahrain Bayan School, the British School of Bahrain and Al Naseem International School, Alsherooq Secondary School, and Isa Town Secondary School, to nominate select candidates for participation in the programme. 

The program will also be offered to university students from University of Bahrain, British University of Bahrain, Bahrain Polytechnic, Allied Science University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Bangor University, The University of Nottingham and the University of Bristol.

Training for Evolve is led by the bank’s Training and Development team, with the support of various training facilities in the Kingdom. The program will offer training across several departments and disciplines such as; industry knowledge, functional simulations, introduction to the bank’s departments, as well as first aid and sign language. 

Commenting on the occasion, Dana Buheji, Group Chief Human Resources and Sustainability Officer at NBB, said: “We are proud to be launching Evolve in partnership with a number of schools across the Kingdom to provide students with various opportunities for growth in their potential careers. NBB remains committed to the development of Bahraini youth as future industry leaders, and through Evolve, we can nurture the next generation of talent.

NBB reiterates its promise towards upskilling our youth as we are committed to our role in investing in the future of the Kingdom and the community.”

The Evolve program underscores NBB’s commitment to youth employment and diversity & inclusion across its various initiatives. Trainees will also gain awareness of the broad range of customers that NBB caters for. As part of the bank’s endeavours towards community investment, NBB continues to develop its training programmes for future generations of students.
