The MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) Pan Arab along with the social enterprise organization Community Jameel, announced the start of the MIT Enterprise Forum Arab Startup Competition 2018. In 2017, when the initiative celebrated its 10th anniversary, there was an unprecedented increase in the number of candidates from the Arab world, up to 39% from the previous year.
Due to the huge interest, the MIT Enterprise From Arab Startup Competition has quickly turned into an annual event. The young entrepreneurs from the region see it as an excellent platform to present and develop their ideas. The competition consists of three tracks: the Ideas track, the Startups track, and the Social Entrepreneurship track. The total amount of prizes exceeds USD 160,000. The teams that make it to the semifinals would proceed to the preparatory activities involving training and workshops. Each track would have a winner. Next to the monetary awards, the best teams would also receive personal mentorship, tailor-made training sessions, and guidance. They would also get some serious media attention.
Hala Fadel, Chair of the board of MITEF Pan Arab admitted he was positive about the Arab youth and its high entrepreneurial spirit. She expressed her willingness to invest in local talents and help them grow.
Fady Jameel, President of Community Jameel International added that his organization was delighted to become a partner of the event. He also expressed his gratitude to the government bodies and NGOs across the region who have always supported the entrepreneurship among young people.
The registration opened on September 3rd on the competition’s official website. The application deadline is November 27, 2017.
