Find, chat, and book sessions with tutors in Cairo

Press Release.

21 OCTOBER, CAIRO – Orcas, the mobile application that connects parents with tutors in Cairo or online is actively adding new features to their product. The team is working on automating its operational procedures to facilitate their rapid growth and expansion.

Most parents rely on their social circles or Facebook Groups to find tutors. This is not only time consuming for the parent, but also lacks transparency. Orcas filled this gap and simplified the process by providing parents with tutor profiles containing tutors’ hourly rates, reviews from parents that booked sessions with them before, information about their educational background, and their previous tutoring experience.

The new chat feature enables parents and tutors to message back and forth via the app before confirming and completing the booking procedures.

“Our team has grown exponentially in both size and strength. . . optimizing our procedures so that transactions are made with zero interference from our end will allow us to scale in the Gulf region and Saudi Arabia easily and soon” says Hossam Taher, the founder, and CEO of Orcas.

This news comes only a few months after the startup raised a bridge round. This feature and rapid expansion will allow them to raise for their next round in early 2021.

The app has over 2,000 tutor profiles in Cairo or online and currently caters to 100,000 users.

“Since Corona, we’ve seen immense growth in our online tutoring sales. Not everyone has the skills to explain math or the rules of grammar to kids or teenagers. Online learning has huge potential, but children need help adapting to this new way of learning. Private tutors help kids develop their own individual studying techniques.” says Zein Abed, Orcas’ Communications Officer.

Once a parent downloads the application from the App Store or Google Play Store, they will be able to select their preferred location (or online) and immediately have access to tutors for any school subject that are available for one-on-one sessions.
