Expo 2020 Dubai Inspires Young Entrepreneurs

Twenty young software developers, designers, and entrepreneurs presented their mobile solutions inspired by the Opportunity, Mobility, and Sustainability themes at the SAP & Expo 2020 Dubai Hackathon.

The software giant SAP, one of the official partners of Expo 2020, challenged the young minds in a marathon-like event. All the participants had a set time to complete a task and to develop a mobile solution based on one of the three Expo 2020 subthemes.

The goal was not only to innovate but also to open new horizons for young peers to show their skills. The panel of judges consisting of SAP and Expo 2020 representatives assessed all the entries. The team “Connect It” took the first place.

The winning solution was a mobile app that would help the Expo visitors to find their way around and to inform themselves about any attractions that match their interest. The app also has a voice guidance feature.

Tayfun Topkoc, Managing Director, SAP UAE and Oman, commented:

SAP and Expo 2020 Dubai are committed to supporting the UAE’s start-up ecosystem, and with the hackathon we are fostering the next generation of technological innovations across opportunity, mobility, and sustainability, and driving tailor-made experiences for many millions of visitors.
