BDB’s Shaikh Hesham Al Khalifa announces the expansion of Bahrain’s Farmers’ Market

Bahrain’s recent Farmers’ Market in Hoorat A’ali is said to be undergoing expansion, according to a statement made by Shaikh Hesham bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairman and Managing Director of Bahrain Business Incubator Company to Tribune.

The Farmers’ Market was initially launched with the aim of creating a market-place for local Bahraini produce. Shaikh Hesham comments on the expansion saying: The expansion plan is very much on and it is important for us to maintain our agricultural heritage.”

The decision of the expansion came as the National Initiative for Agricultural Development in partnership with the Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs organized the “Al Wasem Exhibition” at the market. “We have decided to expand the initiative, owing to the support we received from both farmers and customers,” Shaikh Hesham states.

Bahrain’s Farmers’ Market has hosted a number of events where farmers, representatives of agriculture nurseries, amateur gardeners and societies participated and had the chance to sell their products.

According to Sanjeev Paul, Group Chief Executive officer for Bahrain Development Bank, the market is a great place and environment that connects local producers with the various communities in Bahrain. He also adds that it’s a great initiative that’s helping local producers.
