Bahraini athlete Ali Monfaradi achieves historic win

April 9 – Manama, Bahrain: 

Ali Monfaradi becomes the first Bahraini athlete to win a medal at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2021. The event was held in Abu Dhabi on April 9 and saw Monfaradi bag a silver medal in the competitive Adults Black Belt category.

Monfaradi’s historic achievement has resulted in his official ranking to increase, making him the Number 1 ranked Jiu-Jitsu athlete in Asia, according to the UAEJJF’s annual list – a first ever feat for any Middle Eastern professional athlete.


Meanwhile, Monfaradi’s team, Bahrain-based Elements Jiu-Jitsu Academy, also bagged 3 medals in the Abu Dhabi World Masters Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2021, including 2 gold and 1 silver. Seena Monfaradi and Hisham Noor both bagged gold medals in their weight categories, while Vadzim Pukhau took home the silver medal. The Masters championship was also held in Abu Dhabi on April 7.
