Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises Society (BSMEs) cordially announces organizing Bahrain’s 6th Annual SMEs Day Conference & Exhibition, which will be held under the Patronage of His Excellency Mr. Zayed Bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, on the 10th of December 2017 at The Wyndham Grand Hotel in Bahrain Bay, Kingdom of Bahrain. The conference theme is “The Role of Leadership & Training in SMEs Development Towards Technology Transfer”.

Chairman of Bahrain SMEs Society, Dr. Abdulhasan Al-Dairi said that “the role of leadership & training in the technology transfer within the SMEs is essential for its development. The Bahrain SMEs Society through its resources found that there is a need to highlight various ways of technology transfer step-by-step through influencing, motivating, and triggering the creativity within the entrepreneurs and SMEs owners.”

Dr. Al-Dairi added “Development starts from within. The question is how to trigger that? It requires training, mentoring, expert counseling and pitching the entrepreneurs and owners.  We will address these topics and more in our 2017 SMEs Day Conference & Exhibition which aims to be unique in covering six segments of technology: Energy, Environment, ICT, Food, Manufacturing, and Transportation.”

Eng. Abdulrahim Fakhro Deputy Chairman of Bahrain SMEs Society and Conference Chairman added “This knowledge gain and networking experience will Elucidate the role of leadership and training in the technology transfer process, and will create awareness of the importance of technology transfer and innovation among the SMEs community.

Eng. Fakhro stated “one of our main objectives is to create awareness of the importance of SMEs and Entrepreneurs in adding value to the national economy, and it is also aimed that this 6th edition of the SMEs Day Conference would be a hub-point for inventors, IT experts, Fablabs and Technopreneurs to integrate the High-Tech revolution into unique Business Ventures for their interest and the country’s overall benefit, boosting the national spirit of an entrepreneurial and innovative economy.

Mr. Ahmed Al Sakran, Managing Director of Golden Trust – the event manager said “We at Golden Trust appreciate the efforts of the SME Board of Directors to create awareness of the importance of SMEs and entrepreneurs in adding value to the national economy. We are attracting 200+ participants and exhibitors from the region from business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals to this unique and dynamic event.

Mr. Al Sakran added “The conference will include keynote speakers ranging from the presidents of local universities, executive heads and executive sessions in the areas of technology transfer in the health, information technology, social media and financial services sectors.

The conference will also include the launch of a Bahraini research initiative by academics and researchers to provide an interactive platform that brings together experienced researchers to support the research needs of the business sector in Bahrain and to ensure that it continues to keep pace with Bahrain’s transformation towards a knowledge economy.

Dr. Hana Kanoo said that the consortium was established as an independent non-profit organization to highlight the importance of the role of the SMEs in the economic development of the Kingdom of Bahrain by addressing the current gaps in the basket of services supporting these institutions in order to expand and sustain their growth. Kanoo said that the union will initially target small and medium enterprises.

On the vision of the consortium’s vision, Kanoo said that it is hoped that it will be a leading center in solving the problems facing organizations in the stage of growth based on scientific research and experience, especially as the mission of the Consortium is to engage in interdisciplinary research.

It is noteworthy that the Bahrain Research Consortium is a national project founded by academics and researchers interested in scientific research and ways of developing it. They are Dr. Hana Kanoo, Dr. Hanan Nasser, Dr. Julius Bertillo, Ms. Sawsan Abdulkarim, Ms. Abthal Shehabi, Ms. Samar Yassin, Mr. Jalal Majid and Ms. Mariam Matar with their extensive track record in research and management.
