TechCrunch reported on January 24th that AirBnB is in talks to acquire social payments app, Tilt, for around $50 million. This move is in line with Airbnb’s recent focus on experiences. Acquiring Tilt allows Airbnb to focus on the experience as well as the payments space during social gatherings and events, especially to get those funded. Tilt is popular with the college niche crowd in booking social events like trips and parties.
