Launching a new business can be scary — don’t go at it alone.

Khalid Al-Alawi, the enterprise advisor officer at Tamkeen, wants budding business owners to know about the host of services offered through Tamkeen, from financing and grants to coaching services.

Khalid is a member of the team currently looking after the recently launched advisory services. Tamkeen has always provided financing for businesses, but now, they’re going the extra mile, and introducing new services to help those businesses figure out how to best use those grants and other sources of financing

While an engineer might know there’s a market for his service, he might not know much about accounting, business strategy or marketing Khalid explained. So Tamkeen coaches will be able to help him work out these financial and business issues.

“Basically the lack knowledge beyond technical skills is the gap that we are filling and focusing on,” he said.

The newly launched advisory platform has several facets: business mentorships in partnership with Mowgli; coaching sessions with certified experts in a variety of fields, internships for students who need to build experience which will be conducted in partnership with Global Shapers, in addition to interactive workshops, connection building road shows, and lastly, online toolkits and guides.

“People with experience can provide their expertise to the new business owners,” Khalid said. “We’re connecting individuals to enterprises, and we’re looking to make a greater impact.”
