When asked about how Gourmet Foods Express is different than other suppliers, Hana said that they’re HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certified, which is a systematic preventive approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in the production process that can cause the finished product to be unsafe, so the HACCP is designed to reduce these risks. According to Hana it is very rare for companies in Bahrain to get this certification. “Many luxury establishments and restaurants are HACCP certified so they look for HACCP certified suppliers. This not only makes us attractive in the market but guarantees the quality of our produce to the consumers. We assure our clients that we choose the best location possible to source our produce straight to our consumers,” Hana says.
Moreover, what further contributed to Gourmet Foods Express success is Tamkeen’s continuous support and encouragement. It had provided the company with a financial aid, which allowed it to purchase a truck and two vans that Tamkeen covered 50% of. “This allowed us to continue our growth with no difficult financial obstacles. For many startup companies, a “push” is necessary,” Hana adds.
Additionally, Tamkeen’s “Technical Scheme” has hugely impacted Gourmet Foods Express in a positive manner. Because of the Scheme, they were able to handle more clients, take larger orders, organize and schedule their timings in a better manner in order to meet their client’s standards and maintain a good reputation.
