Re:Coded has teamed up with UK:MENA HUB to set up a Tech-Entrepreneurship Academy in Erbil, Iraq. The workshop aims to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the chance to turn their ideas into reality as well as work with mentors hailing from the UK.
The program currently focuses on technology-based startups is a four-week program set to begin in September. The best part? The program is completely free to eligible candidates who have a strong command in the English language and are teams of 2-5, solo entrepreneurs will be considered.
Upon completion of the program, two startups will get the opportunity to get funded with the aid of UK:MENA HUB, and expose them to investment and growth opportunities in the UK ecosystem and beyond. “I really want the youth in Kurdistan and Iraq to take advantage of this opportunity,” Zahra Shah, Program Manager of Re:Coded Iraq said. “This is a chance for youth to build their own future and create jobs rather than wait to be given jobs.”
Applications are still being accepted by Re:Coded, with the deadline being August 25. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a “matchmaking” weekend which will include training and a chance to pitch their ideas.
So, if you’ve got a team and a great idea, go ahead and apply now!
