Can you take a guess at what Dubai’s Municipality is launching? Here’s a hint, think space.
As part of their ongoing efforts to encourage and support science, the Dubai Municipality will be launching a new satellite that will help collect data and monitor UAE from space.
Speaking at the opening session of the World Government Summit, Hussain Nasser Lootah, the Director-General of Dubai Municipality mention that the satellite will be capable of determining different environmental aspects from marine conditions to air quality.
“A specialized team in the Municipality has been working on the directives of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in this regard. Dubai has achieved at lot under the wise leadership of Sheikh Mohammed, who has transformed Dubai into one of the most modern excellent cities in the world,” observed Lootah.
Addressing the session titled, How innovation is shaping the future, Lootah said, “Our future will focus heavily on information and data analysis. This will become the cornerstone in creating a more sustainable environment and a happier society.”
He also mentioned the important role played by data and information in decision making, the sustainability of the economy, Emiratisation, women empowerment, green products and technology and more.
