Top ten startups selected for the 3rd Cohort of the SCW

The Standard Chartered Women in Technology Bahrain Program, held under the patronage of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) in partnership with Bahrain FinTech Bay (BFB) and the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), announces the selection of the top 10 participants for the 3rd cohort of their 8-week incubation program.

Ten established women-led Bahraini startups were selected to receive training and mentorship to develop their business solutions during the incubation period. This was marked by an event that took place recently at Bahrain FinTech Bay, welcoming the participants in the presence of Dr. Boutros Klink, CEO of Standard Chartered Bahrain, Ms. Muna Al-Hashemi, Board member of the Fintech committee, the Supreme Council for Women, Mr. Bader Sater, CEO of Bahrain FinTech Bay, Mr. Yousif Al Fadhel, Executive Director of Corporate Services, Central Bank of Bahrain and Ms. Yasmeen Al-Sharaf, Director, FinTech & Innovation Unit, the Central Bank of Bahrain.

The ten short-listed female-led solutions shortlisted to take part in the 8-week long program focus on various verticals such as:

  • Micro-finance
  • Financial marketplace
  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
  • Health Technology (Health-Tech)
  • Artificial Intelligence (A.I)
  • Education Technology (Ed-Tech)

During the incubation phase, the teams will benefit from mentorship delivered by Bahrain FinTech Bay and some of the Kingdom’s subject experts, workshops will be carried out on critical aspects of building and growing a tech startup, and pitch practice sessions leading up to the demo day finale.

Following the incubation program, three winning startups will be selected during the demo day finale in July. They will be awarded cash prizes including $30,000, $20,000, and $10,000 awarded by Standard Chartered Bahrain as part of the program and a 3-month incubation at Bahrain FinTech Bay.

The SC Women in Technology Bahrain, launched for the third time, is part of a global initiative that exists within the Standard Chartered global network. The program is aimed at empowering women-owned businesses and targets female-led entrepreneurial teams by providing them with the necessary training and mentorship for them to be able to sustain their digital business solutions.
