Tech Startup Market Sinks to Lowest Point in Three Years

According to Bloomberg US Startups Barometer, private technology startups are currently struggling, startup deal-making has fallen 37 percent since last year’s peak in mid-December. The index is at its lowest point since April 2014.

It is predicted that Trump’s policies could affect startups negatively. According to the report, immigrants come to the US in high numbers to start American companies in disproportionately high numbers, and a crackdown could starve the startup ecosystem of talent.

Startups raised $12.9 billion so far this year compared with $18.7 billion during the same period in 2016, according to CB Insights data.

The report also mentions that politics could play a decisive factor in investment decisions. Silicon Valley’s uncertainty toward the policies of President Donald Trump has sapped the confidence of some venture capitalists.
