Tamkeen’s programme “Intelaaq” Engages with Bahraini Youth

In an effort to connect students with local businesses, Intelaaq, Tamkeen’s student business consultancy programme, organised a networking event entitled “I’m Almost Done With University – Now What?”.

The event included a panel discussion headed by Dr. Zakariya Hejris the Chairman of the MENA Centre for Investment, as well as prominent businessmen Tariq Abdul Latif Kanoo and Mohammad Nass who have many years of national, regional and global business experience.

The main purpose of the event is to help Bahraini students and alumni to understand the Bahraini job market and support them in their next steps. Tamkeen’s Student Business Consultancy programme “Intelaaq” aims to build bridges between the world of academia and the corporate world thereby equipping students with work-ready capabilities.

The event welcomed current Intelaaq consultants and Intelaaq alumni. A turnout of thirty five of Bahrain’s finest business graduates and undergraduates attended the event.

The audience engaged in discussions with the panelists. They asked the panelists a series of questions on employment, the use of social media in their job search, on the job development, and competencies and skill sets. After the successful completion of the panel discussion, the students were divided into groups for networking. This also enabled the soon-to-be graduates with a chance to familiarise themselves with the world of professionalism, and consequently acquire direct contact with potential employers.

“Intelaaq”  is a 4 months student business consultancy programme that aims at transforming student knowledge into practical application. Programme eligibility requires that students are either in their third or fourth-year of undergraduate studies, and are undertaking business related tracks. They are then interviewed to ensure that they are committed, demonstrate high levels of interpersonal and analytical skills.

The nature of the group dynamics ensures that the students experience collaborating with individuals from different educational and professional backgrounds. The final outcome of the programme ensures that the students become familiar with professional environments, and can deliver quality work.
