Tamkeen receives a UN delegation, here’s why

The Labour Fund Tamkeen yesterday received a delegation from the Sustainable Development Division at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) that was led by Saras Jagwanth.

The reason behind the delegation’s visit to Bahrain is to coordinate on the preparation of Bahrain’s First Voluntary National Review on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030.

The country is expecting to submit its First Voluntary National Review on SDGs’ implementation during the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2018 that’s going to kick off in July under the patronage of the Economic and Social Council in July.

Tamkeen’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, stressed on the importance of Tamkeen taking part in consolidating SDGs’ role in investing in human development and in increasing the productivity and prosperity of the private economic sector through many initiatives aimed at supporting Bahraini enterprises and attracting international investments. He also mentions that Tamkeen’s goals are in line with the requirements of comprehensive development spearheaded by HM King Hamad.
