Startup Evenings by Startup MGZN hosts H.E. Sh. Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Minister of Finance & National Economy of Bahrain

Startup MGZN, Bahrain’s award-winning digital publication and community for startups, held its 22nd Startup Evenings gathering during StartUp Bahrain Week. His Excellency Sh. Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Minister of Finance & National Economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain was this event’s honorary guest speaker.

The event’s discussion with the Minister, moderated by Hisham Abu Alfateh, the National Bank of Bahrain’s Head of Corporate Communications, revolved around Bahrain’s national economy and strategy, the startup ecosystem in Bahrain, the importance of driving the Kingdom’s economic growth, and the participation of SMEs in Bahrain’s economy.

The event was attended by members of the Bahraini startup and the wider business community, alongside representatives from our strategic partners Tamkeen Bahrain and Zain Bahrain, and from many organizations from the public and private sector, including the Bahrain Economic Development Board, the Bahrain Development Bank, and more.

During the event, His Excellency, the Minister, shared his thoughts on Bahrain’s strategy to encourage economic growth through the participation of startups and SMEs in the Kingdom’s economy. The Minister also emphasized on the importance of shifting towards a digital economy through the optimal use of technology in the finance and startups.

His Excellency the Minister emphasized on the importance of continuing to invest in infrastructure to maintain a promising and sustainable environment for investment and opportunities for citizens, and increase their training and support for entrepreneurship. His Excellency also stressed the importance of decriminalizing failure, adding that legislations such as the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Law, play a central role in achieving this.
