Some Exciting Things are Happening this Month for the e-Commerce Industry in Bahrain

Bahrain’s Ministery of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism along with Tamkeen and the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) will host the fourth edition of the eCommerce Forum and Exhibition 2017. This year, it will be in October under the title “eCommerce … a Bahraini Platform … For a Global Market.” The Gulf Petrochemical Company already confirmed its silver sponsorship.

The organizers explained that they modified the event in a way to satisfy the needs of the local market and to fill in the technical gap between the domestic businesses regarding e-commerce. It would also discuss the secure conversion, the trust in electronic transactions and all the challenges in the field. In addition to that, many prominent local and international entrepreneurs would share their best practices in the field.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism has been working hard to promote e-commerce among the local small and medium-sized enterprises. It aims to increase the Bahraini electronic market performance and to maintain its position on the world map of successful international e-commerce marketplaces.

Dr. Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, the CEO of Tamkeen Bahrain, commented that adopting the e-commerce practices could help businesses increase their efficiency and productivity. As a result, they would better contribute to the development of the national company, concluded Janahi. He also pointed out Tamkeen’s leading role as a strategic partner in these efforts: “This event provides an excellent platform for knowledge sharing and exchange of best international practices that ultimately supports our commercial institutions and contribute to the welfare of Bahrain.”

Ubaydli Al-Ubaydli, the President of the Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTECH) highlighted the joint efforts of the government, represented by the Ministry of Industry and Tamkeen, and the businesses in the face of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company to organize such a big event. Al-Ubaydli also emphasized the need to adapt quickly to the changes in the ICT industry as the sector would build a working knowledge economy. He also pointed out the important role of the private sector in the smooth transition to the new type of economy.

In turn, Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Chairman of Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company, appreciated the efforts the government has made to increase the public’s trust in e-transactions. He also expressed his gratitude to the government for its hard work to attract new investments and to promote the Kingdom as an economy that responds to the market demands. Jawahery confirmed its company would continue supporting similar initiatives in the public and private sector.
