Rotary Club of Adliya’s initiative 7ewar hosts its first debate

The Rotary Club of Adliya conducted the first session of its 7ewar initiative on Nov 11th, 2018 at the BIBF. The event was supported by BBK, Bahrain’s pioneer in Retail and Commercial Banking, who is always keen on supporting youth initiatives and ensure they are empowered to shape their future and have a successful career.

“7ewar”, a platform that aims to create a positive space for dialogue between generations will be hosting quarterly debates with different themes and groups of people.

The first theme 7ewar touched upon was called: “What does it mean in today’s world”. The session consisted of a panel of three Millennials and three Executives from Generation X, with an audience from both generations who played a key role in the discussion process.

BBK Assistant General Manager Retail Banking Division Dr. Adel Salem was on the panel alongside Chairman of Bahrain Bourse Mr, Abdulkarim Bucheery and General Manager Human Resources of APM Terminals Jordana Semaan.

Durry Atassi, President of RCA, commented on the session saying “Millennials are increasingly taking on leadership positions, as well as constituting 75% of the global workforce and 40% in the MENA region.” Mr. Atassi insists on the importance of organizations to be able to listen, understand and support the youthful workforce, and he believes that “7ewar” is the place for this to happen.

Amal Al Kooheji, a board member on RCA and a keen and constant advocate of the youth in Bahrain added, “We are thrilled to finally launch this initiative. It is a great way to ignite key discussions and have a platform to openly discuss and debate on issues faced within the workplace. I would also like to give my thanks and appreciation to BBK for their kind sponsorship of the first session, and for believing in this initiative, supporting us taking this forward. I also extend my thanks to the BIBF and Obai and Hill for their support.”

BBK, known as the employer of choice, has been a great supporter of the youth community in Bahrain, launching many initiatives that backs the development of young Bahrainis. BBK Chief Executive, Mr. Reyadh Sater said, “We aim to empower our youth, and create a bigger and brighter future for them here in Bahrain. By launching these initiatives and schemes, we are happy at BBK to contribute in providing them with opportunities to excel and grow within their industries. We are pleased to be able to sponsor and support RCA to initiate this dialogue and we believe that the first step to success is open communication.”

As millennials continue to climb the ladder in their careers, clashes are anticipated based on the different managerial styles of managers from different generations, hindering the overall productivity of the company. To resolve that, “7ewar” has been able to start a conversation about how a fusion of styles can be obtained through dialogue, support and compromise that can lead to a desired optimum outcome for the company, underlining the importance of cooperation despite generational differences for today and for the future.

The forum was sponsored by BBK, with the support BIBF, Obai and Hill, Dadedoo and AlBayan Media Group .
