Rotary Club of Adliya launches “7ewar” bringing millennial and the older generation together

“7ewar” is the newest initiative by The Rotary Club of Adliya, with the aim of providing the youthful workforce in Bahrain a platform to discuss and debate on issues faced within their workplace environment. The Rotary Club has been diligent in supporting a number of projects around Bahrain,  with “7ewar” being next on their agenda, to create a positive space for dialogue and present solutions, administering real change within the company, benefiting both managers and millennials involved.

“7ewar” will be held on a quarterly basis as a full day event. Each time it is held, there will be a different theme for the groups taking part, making way for other issues to come to light and to be discussed. The first theme for discussion will be “what does productivity mean in today’s world?”, whereby three millennials and three managers discussing their issues and collaborating to find a solution that suits them both. Attendees of this dialogue will be specially selected for the first event and will play a key role in the discussion process, becoming heavily involved in contributing to ideas and solutions to the problem at hand.

Durry Atassi, President of RCA, has said “millennials are increasingly taking on leadership positions, as well as constituting 75% of the global workforce and 40% in the MENA region” Mr. Atasi insists on the importance for organizations to be able to listen, understand and support the youthful workforce in their growth as managers or leaders in their respective companies, and “7ewar” will be the place for this to happen.

Amal Al Kooheji, a board member on RCA and a keen and constant advocate of the youth in Bahrain added, “We are thrilled to finally launch this initiative. It is a great way to ignite key discussions in our evolving world and we cannot wait to get started. I would also like to give my thanks and appreciation to the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) for their kind sponsorship for the first event, and for believing in this initiative in supporting us taking this forward.”

BBK has been a great supporter of the youth community in Bahrain, launching many initiatives in backing the development of young Bahrainis. BBK Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Reyadh Sater said, “We aim to empower our youth and create a bigger and brighter future for them here in Bahrain. By launching these initiatives and schemes, we are providing them with opportunities to excel and grow within their industries. We are pleased to be able to sponsor and support RCA to initiate this dialogue and hope to support many more projects such as this in the future.”

As millennials continue to climb the ladder in their careers, clashes are anticipated based on the different managerial styles of managers from different generations, hindering the overall productivity of the company. To resolve that, “7ewar” will be able to start a conversation about how a fusion of styles can be obtained through dialogue, support, and compromise that can lead to a desired optimum outcome for the company, underlining the importance of cooperation despite generational differences for today and for the future. The forum will be powered and supported by BBK, along with the BIBF and Obai and Hill, and will be held on November 11th 2018 at BIBF.
