The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) just signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Dubai based startups – WhizKey Future Labs. The MoU entails that the two parties will be working together to develop innovative solutions to transform the existing electricity and water utility business models.
DEWA and WhizKey Future Labs will be using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to help them achieve their goal. These include AI, Blockchain, Robotics, and other technologies that improve performance, productivity and service quality.

The startup was selected from 95 startups around the world that applied in DEWA’s program. WhizKey Future Labs will be working closely with DEWA to implement a pilot AI system for Dubai’s distribution systems.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director & CEO of DEWA, mentioned that the program allows both government organizations and startups to work together to develop innovative projects that contribute to society.
It’s also worth noting that the MoU was signed as part of DEWA’s participation in the 5th Dubai Future Accelerators programme, organized by the Dubai Future Foundation.
According to Mr. Al Tayer, DEWA has received more than 200 applications from global startups since its participation in the previous four editions of
“DEWA’s participation in the Dubai Future Accelerators programme for the fifth time is part of our commitment to establishing Dubai’s position as a leading hub for making the future and a platform for testing disruptive solutions and technologies, and our efforts to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in innovation and AI,” he said.
