New online platform for Jordanian entrepreneurs

The Canadian multinational mass media company Thomson Reuters teamed up with Bank al Etihad to launch SME Jordan, a digital platform serving as a single portal to the SME ecosystem in Jordan. Designed to accelerate the growth of the starting companies, the platform provides them with access to business resources and services, as well as funding options.

Although small and medium enterprises made up nearly 95 percent of the national economy in Jordan and employed as much as 70 percent of the private sector employees, there are still market entry barriers for new SME players. Also, many of the established companies struggled to optimize their operations or miss partnerships with leading institutions and venture capitalist firms.

As Nadim Najjar, Managing Director at MENA Thomson Reuters noted, the new platform would fill these gaps in the Jordanian market and would work towards a healthy SME ecosystem.

Nadia Al Saaed, the CEO of Bank al Etihad, commented the bank had been an active supporter of the small businesses for the last 35 years. She highlighted the critical role of the young Jordan minds for the future of the country and confirmed the bank would continue helping them turn into leaders of tomorrow.

All the services SME Jordan offers are free of charge. Startups, entrepreneurs, and all interested parties can benefit from the vast database of information Thomson Reuters offers. Business owners could stay up-to-date with relevant news from the region and beyond. In addition to that, the entrepreneurs may also consult industry reports for the Jordan market or take advantage of a wide range of business tools and templates. Furthermore, the platform also features a curated marketplace of tailor-made business services for SMEs at a special price by the Bank al Etihad.
