Korean Help for Palestinian Startups

As a part of its efforts to support young entrepreneurs, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Palestine and the welfare organization Taawon signed a matching grant agreement worth USD 1.4 million to empower local startups.

The joint program between KOICA’s Palestine Startup Support and the Taawon Youth Empowerment Services (YES Program) provides business, legal, and administrative support to entrepreneurs.

The initiative would also work with already established startups, part of the YES Program. It would grant them a further technical assistance and capital raising opportunities. KOICA and Taawon would also work hard to raise awareness about the startup ecosystem among the businessmen and the well-established entrepreneurs in the West Bank. Jeonshin Cho commented Korea would continue supporting the young Palestinian startup diaspora.

A state-funded agency, KOICA has been active in Palestine for the last two decades. Established in 1983, Taawon, one of the leading non-profit organizations in the region has invested in diverse programs, among which: youth and women empowerment, restoration of historical cities, orphan support, and more.
