Hoorat A’ali Farmers’ Market officially launches, come along and support your local Bahraini farmers!

Yesterday, March 19th, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King and National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAID) Consultative Council President opened another Farmers Market in Hoorat A’ali. Best part of it all? This one’s pretty permanent.

Yep, you read right. The Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) in partnership with the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning and Urban Planning and Agricultural Affairs (MUN) and Mubadara opened a new Farmers Market in Hoorat A’ali. With 32 booths that sell local Bahraini crops, the project aims to establish an agricultural ecosystem that encourages and revitalizes the growth of Bahraini crops, and at the same time empower Bahraini farmers.

During the opening ceremony, Her Royal Highness talked about NIAD’s initative to promote the agricultural sector in Bahrain and expand green spaces. She also stressed the importance of prioritizing Bahraini farmers through support, training, and encouraging them to invest in the sector to market local products.

In addition, she described the new market as a key platform for farmers to exchange expertise and know how to enhance the quality of local products in order to compete with foreign products and meet part of Bahrain’s food security.
