Vezeeta, a Cairo-bases healthtech startup just raised the largest-ever investment to be made by an Egyptian startup. Vezeeta raised $12 million in its Series C round that was led by the largest VC fund of Middle East & North Africa, STV Capital.

Some of Vezeeta’s existing investors include BECO Capital, Vostok New Ventures, and Silicon Badia who joined the round with Crescent Enterprises’ CE Ventures. So far, the startup has raised $22.5 million in funding so far, making it one of the best-funded startups in the region.

The startup Vezeeta is founded by former Mckinsey Consultant, Amir Barsoum back in 2012. Through Vezeeta, users can book medical appointments and health services through Vezeeta’s web-based platform or mobile app. Users are able to search for doctors by geographical location, specialty, or insurance provider, and even get a chance to compare them. They can also read verified reviews of each doctor before booking an appointment to ensure that they’ve booked the right doctor.

Vezeeta has also expanded to Jordan and Saudi Arabia and has more than 10,000 doctors on its platform. Ever since its launch, the startup served more than 2.5 million users across the 3 countries and has facilitated more than 3 million bookings.

Amir Barsoum, Founder and CEO of Vezeeta expressed his excitement on the investment saying: “We could not find a better investment team or strategic partner to help us take Vezeeta to its next stage in the region. We also welcome to our prominent investors profile, CE-Ventures, and we are proud to receive the continuous support from our current investors BECO Capital, Vostok New Ventures, and Silicon Badia.”
