C5 Accelerate hosts its third Policy Hack with Tamkeen’s Chairman, here’s a recap

C5 Accelerate, Policy Hack hosted His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa, Chairman of Tamkeen, and the Political and Economic Advisor to HRH Crown Prince’s Court, for a fireside chat as part of C5’s Policy Hack series.  

The Policy Hack event, which took place on Monday 23rd of July, discussed Tamkeen’s role in Bahrain’s broader reform and economic development, building a skilled and sustainable Bahraini workforce and private sector and nurturing SMEs and the startup ecosystem. 

The session started with an open discussion on Tamkeen’s 2018-2020 strategy and how it aligns with global trends and the importance of capitalizing on the rise of tech and tech convergence. His Excellence, Shaikh Mohammed Bin Essa Al Khalifa also addressed intergovernmental cooperation and the role of sister agencies in furthering Tamkeen’s agenda and goals. His Excellency also talked about Tamkeen’s 2018-2020 strategy and how it aligns with global trends and the importance of capitalizing on the rise of tech and tech convergence. 

Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa also said that Tamkeen’s Strategy 2018-2020 lays great emphasis on the sustainable development goals of the private sector, which requires continuous research and studies into areas of improvement, to introduce new solutions and programs that amplify the support extended to enterprises as well as individuals. He also referred to the launch of Tamkeen’s Cloud Computing Scheme that aims to support the provision of Amazon Web Services (AWS) new business solutions for the enterprises’ IT operations.

The event concluded with a Q&A session with the event’s attendees and offered networking opportunities.

The Policy Hack Series was launched in collaboration with Tamkeen in November 2017 as a leading platform for policy thought leadership, debate, and discussion, to strengthen the ties between Bahrain’s influential entities and the startup ecosystem, and to discuss strategies that impact the tech innovation and entrepreneurial landscape and ecosystem and foster economic diversification and sustainable development. Previous Policy Hack guests include His Excellency Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism and His Excellency Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB).
