With the continuous effort to encourage diverse industries in Bahrain, Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) has identified the opportunity of transforming a famous landmark in Bahrain into a center for arts and crafts in the form of an incubator clustering the projects of different types of artists under one roof. An agreement has been signed with Manama Municipality to establish the Arts and Crafts Incubator – yet to be given an official name to be announced at a future date – at Al Andalus Garden. Spaces will be offered to startup entrepreneurs and existing businesses in the field of arts and crafts at a subsidized rental rate affordable to our local entrepreneurs.
The Arts and Crafts Incubator will aim to support the development and commercialization of Art-related projects with the vision of creating the first Art Hub in Bahrain. The spaces available for rent will include workshops, galleries, lounge areas, a restaurant and cafes. Furthermore, as an incubator the center will offer support services such as business advisory, coaching, networking, common spaces, conference facilities, and internet access. The incubator also seeks to become a prime location for hosting art related events such as Alwan 338, Market 338, along with regional and international exhibitions becoming a local and tourist attraction.
The targeted sectors which will be incubated as part of the Arts and Crafts Industry include Fine Arts, Music, Theater & Production, Craftsmanship, Calligraphy, Graphic Design, Illustration, among others.
Bahrain Development Bank aims to enrich the Arts and Crafts industry in Bahrain with the establishment of this project, providing artists with a platform to thrive, which will complement other existing art initiatives and develop the industry’s entrepreneurial capacity.
